In prehispanic times, amber was called apozonalli which means, the bubbles on the water (espuma de agua). This because of the beautiful colors that the sun brings to the ocean when it is laying on it. It was and still now is, a most praised gem, not only for its beauty, and for the world and history kept inside it for more than 25 million years, but also because of the belief that mexican amber is a healer and protector in our path, keeping harm away from us.

Even though we see it as the foam in the water, it is the believed that it holds the fire inside of it. And when held against a light this fire can be seen. It is with this fire that we are protected from harm.
